If we vote yes, will there be late term abortions?

Abortions will only be carried out after 12 weeks in cases of serious harm to a woman’s health or her life or in cases of fatal foetal anomaly, and only with the certification of two doctors. These decisions will not be taken lightly, but doctors will be able to intervene to avoid serious harm to a woman’s health when necessary.

We know from other European countries that where abortion is legal, women access services as early as possible but we need to ensure that interventions can take place as late as necessary to preserve a woman’s health.

Voting YES to removing the 8th will offer resolution to the terrible dilemmas that doctors have described, like cases of fatal foetal anomalies, where they are unable, under the current law, to intervene and care for their patients.
