Why does this referendum concern us all?

Abortion is already happening in Ireland. Everybody acknowledges that. We just have unsafe abortions. Women are taking abortion pills every day, unsupported and alone in their bedrooms and bathrooms. So this is a vote to decide if we are going to regulate it, make it safe and care for the women who need it.  This is a vote about how we as a country treat pregnant women in a crisis situation.

Pregnancies can go wrong or become a crisis. No woman wants to have an abortion, and no woman takes the decision lightly. But life can be complicated. Under the law as it stands, we leave these women exposed to risk. We refuse them care at a time of crisis.

By voting YES, we will vote for a more compassionate Ireland where a woman who needs to end her pregnancy can be allowed to access an abortion under the care of her doctor.
